Help page for VBCPS Student Portal There is no requirement to use Internet Explorer (IE); however, the Portal is based on Microsoft software and there may be features that will not be available with another browser. All of the base functionality works fine with Firefox or Netscape. The AOL, MSN, People PC, Netzero browsers do not work. If you use one of these browsers, make your connection, then minimize and run IE or Firefox to connect. If you have a dial-up connection, use your Internet services provider to access the Internet, then minimize and run IE or Firefox to connect. For all the below examples, a student's ID is represented by 012345. An actual student ID should be substituted anywhere 012345 is seen. No valid student ID actually starts with 0. A teacher/staff member login ID is represented in the example below by IMTEACH. An actual network login ID should be substituted anywhere IMTEACH is seen. Send your suggestions for topics to be included on this help page, can be sent to Suzie Boyce in the Department of Technology. Microsoft Office 2007 & Vista We require that students using Microsoft Office 2007 save their files as Office 2003 files prior to uploading to the student portal.
If prompted to change your password when accessing the Student Portal from home, you will need to provide the information as shown in the table below (see sample screenshot)
Problem: Cannot get logged in at all
Passwords are case sensitive and may contain upper and lower case letters. Problem: Typing everything in correctly, still cannot get in
If you want to add a website to the list of trusted sites, but the site is not secured (the address begins with HTTP instead of HTTPS), clear the Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone check box before adding the address. If that option is selected, you can only add secure websites to the list. Problem: Changed my password at school and now cannot get in
Problem: Once logged in, the portal continues to ask for username and password
